Comments on: How to change default installation directory in windows

Hi,

What do you do if you reinstall your system drive? How do you re-associate your installed programs? OR, what if you have the programs on a removable media? How could you run the certain programs that require you to have them resisted in the registry?

I would appriciate a reply to question.

All,

Some windows system programs like wordpad, (more in windows 7) use %programfiles% in their path and changing this would render them useless.

Still looking for solution…

hey, thanks for this information. but, i’ve heard (not from reliable sources) that this can mess up windows update. is that true? will it mess anything up?
